FAVORITE CUISINE AND PLACE

This part highlights the food and places I visited during my stay in Indonesia. They were an important part of my journey and are worth remembering, especially the places and dishes I enjoyed the most.

BURJO

Burjo was the establishment where we had our first breakfast before heading to school. This place holds a special significance for me, as it not only brought joy but also provided a satisfying meal at an affordable price.

Each time we visited Burjo, the cashier would warmly greet us with a smile and hand us a piece of paper on which to write our orders. I greatly appreciated this thoughtful gesture, as it allowed us to overcome the language barrier and communicate effectively through writing.

Moreover, our visits to Burjo offered valuable lessons, particularly in understanding the basic practices of purchasing food in a different cultural setting. We truly miss this place and sincerely appreciate the excellent service and the kindness and professionalism of the staff.

DE MANSION

During our stay in Indonesia, we had the privilege of meeting many individuals who became an integral part of our journey. I would like to take this opportunity to highlight our accommodation, De Mansion, where we resided for one month and encountered a variety of meaningful experiences.

Throughout our time at De Mansion, we shared many memorable moments—from being the only group who regularly prepared our own meals, to sometimes being the most energetic and lively residents. It was within this space that we strengthened our relationships, built lasting bonds with our student buddies, and created a sense of community.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the staff and housekeepers of De Mansion for their unwavering support and kindness. Your willingness to lend us essential items, take care of our laundry during unexpected rain, and assist us in various ways did not go unnoticed. Your warm greetings and cheerful smiles each time we passed by brought us daily comfort and joy.

We are especially thankful for your assistance during crucial moments—such as when the gas ran out in the middle of cooking and you immediately contacted Mr. Pribadi to arrange a refill. That thoughtful gesture meant a great deal to us. Moreover, when one of our fellow interns required hospitalization, your readiness to help and genuine concern deeply touched us. Your actions reflected compassion and exceptional hospitality, for which we are truly grateful.

In addition, I would like to acknowledge our two boardmates, Panji and Noval, who extended their friendship and assistance throughout our stay. Their support during urgent situations—particularly when they helped transport us to the hospital—was invaluable. We sincerely appreciated their presence, even during moments of panic, which only strengthened our connection with them.

I genuinely miss our shared cooking sessions and the many simple yet meaningful moments we experienced together. Once again, terima kasih banyak for your generosity, support, and care. We wish you continued health and safety in all that you do.

MARTABAK

Martabak is a popular Indonesian street food available in both sweet and savory varieties. The sweet version, known as Martabak Manis, resembles a thick, stuffed pancake and is typically filled with ingredients such as chocolate, cheese, condensed milk, or crushed nuts. It was a dish that we truly enjoyed, especially because of its rich flavor. It was incredibly delicious and highly recommended.

DADAR GULUNG

Dadar Gulung is a traditional Indonesian dessert that stands out for its unique flavor and delightful presentation. Made from a soft, thin crepe infused with fragrant pandan leaves, it is rolled and generously filled with a mixture of freshly grated coconut and palm sugar, creating a perfect balance of sweetness and texture. The vibrant green color of the crepe, derived naturally from pandan, adds to its visual appeal and hints at the rich, aromatic taste within. What makes Dadar Gulung especially enjoyable is the contrast between the tender outer layer and the sweet, slightly chewy filling that melts in your mouth with every bite. This dessert is not only a popular street food but also a beloved delicacy served during special occasions. Its comforting flavor, cultural significance, and satisfying texture make it an unforgettable and highly recommended treat for anyone exploring Indonesian cuisine.

SMP AL AZHAR 14 SCHOOL CANTEEN

I would like to highlight the exceptional cleanliness and organization of the canteen at our cooperating school. From the neatly arranged chairs to the orderly placement of all necessities, everything was maintained to a high standard, creating a pleasant and hygienic environment for everyone.

What made the experience even more memorable was the warmth and kindness of the canteen staff. They treated us like their own sons and daughters, consistently going above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed and cared for. On several occasions, when food was unavailable, they graciously shared their own meals with us—a gesture we deeply appreciated.

THESE ARE ONLY SOME PLACES AND FOOD THAT I WANT.
